Appliqué 5X7 Hoop Single Design

The image above is 2 sew outs of the same design. The blue one has the bobbin thread cut so he has a fringe mane and the other is with the mane in tact. You can fluff up the mane a lot more than the picture shows.

To create the fringe affect: On the mane carefully trim the bobbin thread under the satin stitch for loops, if you don't want loops and would rather have a more frayed mane go underneath and trim the needle thread and gently work the threads to the top layer using a tool with a dull point or your fingers. If you are going to make fringe in a design that will be laundered, use a little fusible mesh underneath to hold it in place, or Ok To Wash - It Fabric Glue.
